Night Vision Monocular
Night Vision Monoculars use thermal (body heat) imaging so people or animals can be found. These are used primarily by police or military personnel to find enemies or hiding suspects. Search and rescue workers may use them to find missing people that are in a wooded area or inside a collapsed building.
There are many types of Night Vision Monoculars on the market, each have different uses. The price range can be a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars. There are black and white monoculars that can aid the viewer with better depth perception that the standard green phosphor night vision. The green phosphor is the most widely used, especially with the United States military with the multi-purpose night time modes. Some even give you the option to record what you are seeing to play it back to relay locations of the enemy.
A thermal viewer can aid in seeing through fog and smoke. A night vision rifle scope can help hunters detect wild game for hunting. Some monoscopes have an option that gives the user the ability to use a certain type of night vision during the day and switch it to a different type during the night.
